Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay (12 September 1894 – 1 November 1950) was an Indian Bengali writer and one of the main essayists of current Bengali writing. His most popular work is the personal novel Pather Panchali (The Song of the Road), which was later adjusted (alongside Aparajito, the continuation) into The Apu Trilogy of movies coordinated by Satyajit Ray.The 1951 Rabindra Puraskar, the most lofty abstract honor in West Bengal, was after death granted to Bibhutibhushan for his novel, Ichhamati.
